Legacy

The legacy is another part of the archives of written documents. This contains personal documents, products, letters, publications and much more that can provide crucial assistance when investigating the company’s history.
The archived legacy not only contains the legacy of former associates of the company, but also from people in and around the Bosch Group with close ties to the Board of Management or the company founder Robert Bosch.

Some parts of the legacy therefore also reflect topics that may be peripheral from the company's perspective, but which offer significant examples of Bosch’s social commitment. Theodor Bäuerle’s legacy is a good example of this.
Theodor Bäuerle (1882 – 1956) was a close confidante of company founder Robert Bosch. He was also the Managing Director of Stuttgart’s “Society to Support Public Education” which set up many pioneering training initiatives for Württemberg during the Weimar period, as well as being a supporter of the Stuttgart adult education center.

He also supported various training foundations such as the “Markel foundation” and the “Bosch-Jugendhilfe” (youth welfare). Bäuerle’s legacy was divided up between the Bosch archive and the Stuttgart state archive in 1980. The legacy relating to Bäuerle’s work with Bosch remained part of Historical Communications. It comprises 7 shelf meters of files in approximately 300 registered units.
