Archives of written documents

The archives of written documents include written documents spanning the entire history of all areas of the company. These range from company founder Robert Bosch’s correspondence to press articles, business statistics, advertisements, documents from meetings, associate magazines and legacies.
Written documents bring history to life and provide us with important historical information. Robert Bosch’s correspondence and publications continue to make the company founder’s business ideals and social convictions tangible.

Robert Bosch wrote down his memoirs during a ship cruise to South America in 1921. In them, he recalls how Bosch started out in a courtyard of Rotebühlstrasse in western Stuttgart with starting capital of only 10,000 German marks. The oldest remaining invoice from 1891 underlines this picture of the company’s early years.
These are just some examples from the archives of written documents. In total, the archives contain close to 1.5 shelf meters of files and are divided into seven inventory categories by subject matter.
