eScooter Sharing – Fast and flexible through the city
Take an easy ride through city traffic – with the app-based electric scooter service COUP
Open the app, find a scooter, put your helmet on, and off you go: this is COUP — a wholly owned subsidiary of Bosch. An agile start-up in the field of the Internet of Things that sensibly complements offerings in urban mobility. With silent, low-cost journeys through city centers — in Berlin, Paris, and Madrid. Available around the clock, easy to find, book, and drive. And aligned with the spirit of today: flexible, full of energy, and environmentally conscious.
COUP moves people — simply with an app
The Internet of Things gets a whole lot moving without too many complications: that’s why COUP works as simply as possible with a smartphone app — from registering (including driver’s license verification) to reserving and returning the eScooter. The app is the key to smart, time-saving, and flexible urban mobility. It displays available eScooters and allows them to be reserved free of charge and unlocked locally. Once you’ve arrived at your destination, it also simply ends your journey. In addition, you can access useful tips that make using COUP even more attractive, or manage your account information. And all of this is delivered in a fresh and clear design with intuitive, simple operation. Of course, the app is available for free, for iOS and Android.
“The success of COUP speaks for itself. COUP has become an integral part of the everyday urban life of our users.”
Dr. Bernd Schmaul, CEO COUP Mobility GmbH
A trend becomes a sustainable mobility concept
Since the traffic situation in Berlin has become critical, as it has in every world city, Bosch was able to immediately score a surprising coup with its sharing platform for eScooters.
The young, wholly owned Bosch subsidiary COUP Mobility GmbH has been agile right from the start. It took the start-up little more than nine months to launch the app-based sharing service COUP in August 2016, initially with 200 smart electric scooters. Within less than one year, the Berlin fleet increased to 1,000 eScooters and the area of business significantly expanded. Because COUP optimally serves the global trend of getting from point A to B flexibly in cities, the market entry in Paris then took place in 2017 with 600 vehicles.
Here, too, COUP is making a great impression. Instead of getting stuck in traffic jams or squeezing into the crowded metro, Parisians can now quickly and flexibly get through the city. The company’s expansion was thus set to take the next step in 2018: The business area in Paris was enlarged and the number of eScooters increased significantly. In addition, COUP launched in Madrid. Because the app-based lifestyle service is being well received at each location, the overall fleet will be significantly expanded by another 1,500 electric scooters in 2019.
eScooters from COUP will be ready to go by the end of 2019, bringing the fun of driving back to these cities.
COUP is the flexible, low-cost, and trendy alternative in three European metropolises that complements mobility offerings in city centers.
