2020 was an exceptional year for each and every one of us. The dynamic global developments of the corona pandemic have presented us all with major challenges.
We would like to thank you sincerely for your commitment with which you led Bosch through the challenging economic environment. Thank you for taking health protection seriously and thus making the best possible contribution to containing the virus.
At Bosch, we have made a contribution to this task which concerned the whole of society with a strong team, targeted measures, and outstanding innovations. This year's Bosch season's greetings card is dedicated to the special commitment of our colleagues and shows everyday situations that have accompanied us during recent months.
The Bosch rapid test for COVID-19
This spring, Bosch has developed a rapid test for its Vivalytic analysis device in just six weeks, which can detect a SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. The latest version of the test provides a reliable result in 39 minutes and is currently the fastest polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test worldwide. Bosch CEO Dr. Volkmar Denner highlights its importance: “Bosch’s rapid COVID-19 test will help contain the spread of the pandemic and break the chain of transmission more quickly.”

Production of face masks
In the fight against coronavirus, Bosch has started the fully automated production of face masks in May 2020. For this purpose, Bosch’s special-purpose machinery unit has developed a system specifically to manufacture face masks. On five of these fully automated production lines at four Bosch locations around the world, protective face masks are being produced — over half a million a day!

Keeping it clean! Hand sanitizer for internal use
In March 2020, associates at the Bosch plant in Anderson, South Carolina, and colleagues in Farmington Hills, Michigan, gathered resources to set up a laboratory for the production of disinfectants to help the Bosch locations fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The production of a proprietary disinfectant for internal use leaves commercially available disinfectants to medical authorities and families. In view of the nationwide shortage of disinfectants at the beginning of the pandemic outbreak, it was therefore possible to satisfy the internal demand at the Bosch locations independently.
