Our stakeholders

We have set the bar high to meet the requirements of our stakeholders.

Internal stakeholders

Compared with most other companies of its size, Bosch has a special ownership structure: The Robert Bosch Stiftung, a non-profit foundation, holds a 92 percent stake in the share capital of Robert Bosch GmbH. While the foundation does not have voting rights, it uses the share dividend it receives for charitable purposes in areas such as research, education, and social welfare. Hence, as a result of its long-term profit-oriented strategy, Bosch provides the foundation for the Stiftung’s non-profit activities.

The legacy of company founder Robert Bosch is also reflected in the company’s values. At Bosch, responsibility begins with associates, with whom the company seeks to engage in ongoing dialog. This includes feedback meetings with supervisors at regular intervals. Moreover, every two years Bosch conducts a global associate survey. Among other things, the associates are surveyed about their working conditions, the extent to which they identify with the company’s values, and the balance between their personal and professional lives.

External stakeholders

From quality, costs, and environmental protection to social responsibility, our external stakeholders have a broad range of requirements. We aim to understand our stakeholders and to make meeting their needs the focus of our activities.

Customers

Bosch has intensive and regular exchanges with its automotive industry customers, who show a high interest in sustainability-related topics. We are involved in a number of joint ventures, especially in the areas of powertrain electrification and automated driving. For example, in cooperation with Daimler AG, Bosch has founded the EM-motive GmbH joint venture to develop and manufacture electric motors for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Suppliers

We conduct contract negotiations as well as environmental and social audits with many of our suppliers. We also discuss environmental and social topics with them. In addition to comprehensive analyses and the resulting measures, the cooperation included training sessions on topics such as resource efficiency and safety in the workplace.

Universities and research institutes

Here, Bosch supports research in areas that are relevant for the company, including energy efficiency, renewable energies, and powertrain electrification. At the same time, Bosch offers students and graduates opportunities to write their bachelor’s or master’s theses, or even their PhD dissertations on practical sustainability-related topics.

Other stakeholders include people who live in the surroundings of Bosch locations worldwide, politicians, non-governmental organizations in the environmental and social sectors, banks, insurance companies, the media, churches, as well as the representatives of public authorities. Wherever needed, Bosch engages in discussions and exchanges with these stakeholders.

Stakeholders in dialogue

On a regular basis, Bosch invites personalities from the worlds of science, business, politics, and NGOs to discuss current sustainability topics.
